Korean Technology
Korean technology has spread all over the world. Now Korea is the 2nd most innovative country in the world (United States being 1st). Companies that you probably have heard of that are Korean include; Samsung, LG, Hyundai, and KIA just to name a few. Now that Korean technology is universal I am going to tell you all about it.
Samsung started in Korea in 1938 with a man named Byung-Chull Lee with 30,000 won which is $30.
Now Samsung is worldwide. Over the years Samsung has grown to become one of the best mobile phone companies in the world. Phones aren't the only amazing things that Samsung does. Samsung makes computers, refrigerators, TV's, camera's, tablets, and the list just goes on. Without this company I doubt that Korea would be the second most innovative county in the world. Korea may only be 2nd when it comes to innovation but they are in first place when it comes the fastest wireless internet connection. As if fastest wireless internet connection isn't enough the Korea Advanced institute of science and technology announced that they may make Korean mass transit vehicles, running on wireless power, a reality. They are trying to create this reality for cars, buses, and high speed trains. To make this happen they would have to replace the overhead cables currently used by public transit systems with invisible underground wireless system to go underneath electric vehicles. Right now they're only working on testing this on a bus.

Robots are another big part of Korean technology. In a prison in Pohang, South Korea robots have begun their first field training for prison guard robots. The “guard” is designed to conduct self-directed patrols, guided by navigation tags located along corridor ceilings, but is supervised by a human guard and may be controlled via iPad. In emergency scenarios, such as an impending suicide attempt, assault, or arson, correctional officers may respond. If the situation is less dire, two-way cameras and microphones can allow control center guards to communicate directly with restive prisoners.
North Korean Technology
Even though North Korea and South Korea share half of a name and a language, North Korea and South Korea are very different not only in terms of technology but lifestyle too. In North Korea it seems like they only work on the technology for their military and forget to take care of their citizens technology too. Although we know they are only focusing on technology we don't know how far along their technology is. Since North Korea is a communist country we don't know to much about them, proving the lack of information about them from this web page to books, the internet, etc.
North Korea focuses on military technology while South Korea focuses on technology to help their country. The picture on the right shows the light in North Korea at night and the lights in South Korea at night. As you can see North Korea isn't exactly focusing on what life is like for their citizens. I'll let you decide who's technology is more advanced.

Canadian Technology
I had the pleasure of interviewing an employee from blackberry. Even though Blackberry is a Canadian company knowing what we have in store is important too. During the interview I learned some pretty cool facts and new things about how Canadian technology is progressing and how different or how similar the technology in different countries can be. I learned RIM (Research in Motion) was the original name of BlackBerry. RIM was founded by a man named Mike Lazaridis. This genius had many inventions long before BlackBerry existed. RIM’s first product was NOT a phone. It was film barcode reader used in cinema. Oddly enough, RIM was awarded an motion picture Academy award in 1999. Then later on, RIM invented a point of sale device that allow people to pay and make payments (like visa/credit cards) wirelessly. For example, when someone finishes eating at a restaurant, they hand you a device where you insert your creditcard to pay for the meal. This product used a technology called “Mobitex”. Mobitex was a telecommunication protocol that was first used in very first BlackBerry device. This was a tiny device that can send text messages and emails to people. First of a kind. The reason why it was called BlackBerry is because those little keyboard buttons on the device looked like blackberry fruits hanging from a blackberry tree. Blackberry stands apart from most companies because their main focus is security. They have the only phones that pass all the Canadian and United States government certification. They want to make phones that work for people with busy lives but their phones work for the people who enjoy games too. Blackberry prides itself to have all their products their own, not copying other companies even if that means taking a bit longer. Even though they take only a few months longer Blackberry still works to make life easier whether it be at your work place, home, or communicating with friends on the other side of the Earth. Technology may not be that different here than in Korea but there are always little things in phones that other people like in certain phones that in other phones that is probably why the phone market is so tough.
All in all these three countries are very different and similar in many ways. Weather it be our culture or our technology. Still Korean technology (North and South) is not at all just local, you hear about technology from Korea everywhere.
